Greetings!

Welcome to the Saratoga City Ballet School’s fall registration page. 2011-2012 marks SCB’s 23rd year, and we are looking forward to another great one. It is important to us that all of our students have a meaningful learning experience at our school. This starts with making sure our school is a good match for your dancer. Please read over all the following information and registration information carefully. SCB is a pre-professional ballet school, which means our goal is to teach the art of ballet technique in preparation for a career in dance. Our program begins in the children’s division where young dancers learn the joy of movement and music in a creative and fun environment. In our main division, dancers start the focused work of learning this challenging art form. All new students in 3rd grade or above must take a placement class before registering. Dancers in 2nd grade or below are placed in levels according to grade/age. Students registering must meet the minimum age/grade requirement by December 1st.

If you are new to the school, a great way to get to know us is to sign up for our summer program. Information on our summer session which starts on August 8th is posted here.

Our open house will be held at the studios, 27 Jumel Place, on Saturday, September 10th from 12:00-2:00pm. Class size is limited so you may want to consider signing your dancer up in advance. We welcome new and perspective students to stop by, see our facilities and meet the faculty.  We also love to see returning students and catch up with them after the summer.

Any dancer in 1st grade or above (no exceptions) who is a member of the Saratoga City Ballet School is invited to audition for the Saratoga City Ballet Company’s Nutcracker. Rehearsals will be held on the weekends throughout the fall. Participation in an SCBC production requires excellent attendance and family participation in the form of fundraising and backstage volunteering. Auditions for the Nutcracker will be held on September 18th and 24th and are mandatory. One parent from each family is also required to attend one of our mandatory parent meetings in order for a dancer to be considered for a role. Information on Nutcracker auditions will be posted here in the fall.

The company also presents a spring production for which all dancers in the Main Division are invited to audition. Students in the Children’s Division will be participating in a small demonstration performance at the end of our school year in May. Information on the two spring shows will be posted after the new year.

All of our registration materials are posted on the upper right hand side of this page.  Our handbook offers a lot of information about our program and what is expected of a SCB dancer.  Please download and read it carefully for dress code requirements as well as all policy and procedure information.
